GENERAC Offers Special Pricing to SRE Members
Southern Rivers Energy strives to provide reliable power but sometimes Mother Nature has other plans. Hurricane Irma knocked out power to 80 percent of our meters in 2017 and restoration efforts lasted four days. Now you can give yourself peace of mind by being prepared for power outages with a Generac automatic standby generator and keep life going without disruption.
In 2020, Southern Rivers Energy announced its partnership with Generac Power Systems to offer our members automatic, 24/7 power protection. A permanently installed automatic standby generator protects your family and home from power outages while providing a quiet, hands-free solution that works if you’re at home or away.
It runs on natural gas or liquid propane (LP) fuel and sits outside just like a central air conditioning unit. Whole house generators are wired into your home’s electrical system backing up your entire home or just the most essential items. They start automatically, as soon as the power goes out to keep the essentials running like your refrigerator, heating/cooling system, and lighting.
Automatic Operation
Your Generac home backup generator starts and stops automatically - whether you are home or away.
Refueling Not Necessary
Your Generac home backup generator runs on your existing natural gas or LP fuel supply. Save the gas cans for your other outdoor power equipment.
Power Directly to Your Home
You'll never have to run an extension cord through a window or door again. Your Generac home backup generator safely delivers power right to your home's electrical panel.
If you are interested in a whole-house generator, you can contact our authorized Generac installer, and they will conduct an in-home consultation free of charge. During your free in-home consultation, a representative will discuss your backup power needs so that they can recommend the best standby power system. They will explain the installation process and help you choose the best location for your generator. You will receive a written estimate with no obligation to buy.
Portable Generators
Portable generators are also available in addition to manual transfer switches. A transfer switch is the safest way to connect and use a portable generator. If you already own a portable generator, you can still have a manual transfer switch installed.
If you have or are considering purchasing a portable generator for your home, please consider purchasing a GenerLink Switch to prevent backfeeding of the power line. Southern Rivers Energy will install a GenerLink Switch behind the meter. This prevents running multiple extension cords and helps ensure the safety of our linemen and field service technicians. Members are required to sign a GenerLink Installation Agreement before Southern Rivers Energy can install the switch.
If not done correctly, connecting a portable electric generator directly to your household wiring can be deadly to your neighbors and electric utility workers. A generator connected to a home’s wiring or plugged into a regular household outlet can cause backfeeding along power lines and electrocute anyone who comes in contact with them—even if the line seems dead. SRE employees are not the only ones in danger when a portable generator is misused. Generator owners may risk electrocution, fire injury, property damage, or carbon monoxide poisoning if they do not follow the necessary safety rules.
SRE members can take advantage of special premier pricing from Gresco Utility Supply and financing through Synchrony Bank or GoEnergy Financial Credit Union.
