Georgia’s electric utilities, including Southern Rivers Energy, have set aside the month of April to honor the brave men and women who keep our electricity flowing all year round.

What was a one-day observance has been extended to an entire month.

Thieves Devise New Ways to Prey upon Unsuspecting Customers

Southern Rivers Energy members should be on guard for the latest ploy to obtain quick cash and personal information such as credit card and social security numbers.

“Be aware of callers claiming they are with Southern Rivers Energy selling security systems or threatening disconnection if an immediate payment isn't made on the account,” says Erin Cook with Southern Rivers Energy.

New Phone Payment Option Eliminates Fee

Southern Rivers Energy is excited to announce a new payment option for members. The Integrated Voice Recording system takes payments using an automated system and the best part is, there is no fee. Previously, SRE charged a $3.95 processing fee when a customer service representative took payments verbally over the phone and keyed in the payment information by hand.

SRE Mourns the Passing of Board Chairman Harvey Lemmon

Beloved co-op director and current board chairman, A. Harvey Lemmon of Woodbury, passed away unexpectedly Sunday. He joined the Southern Rivers Energy board of directors in 2009 and has served the last three years as Board Chairman.

Frigid Temps & Increased Load Caused Outages

This morning's freezing temps significantly increased the demand or load on our system and took out a circuit in the Milner substation. Crews have restored power but are now in the process of shifting some of the load to different circuits to increase stability going forward. During this process, members in Milner and along Hwy 41 going toward Pike County may experience brief interruptions but crews are working as quickly as possible to minimize the duration of the outages. We appreciate your patience and cooperation.
