2020 Bright Ideas Grant Winners Announced

Southern Rivers Energy (SRE) and the Southern Rivers Energy Trust, Inc. recently awarded a total of $14,956 to 18 local teachers to fund innovative lesson plans for students.

COVID-Modified Annual Meeting a Success

Due to COVID-19 pandemic precautions, Southern Rivers Energy (SRE) will hold a non-traditional, drive-thru Annual Meeting of Members on Saturday, August 29, 2020 under the equipment shed behind their office at 1367 Hwy 341 South in Barnesville.

Changes to SRE Annual Meeting

Southern Rivers Energy (SRE) will hold the 83rd annual members’ meeting as scheduled on Saturday, Aug. 29, at 10 a.m., but in a com­pletely different format. Due to the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic and for the safety of our members and employ­ees, we have decided to hold noth­ing more than a business meeting to satisfy the requirements outlined in our bylaws.

Meeting changes include:

Active Hurricane Season Predicted

June 1 is the start of hurricane season and according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the 2020 Atlantic hurricane season is slated to be above-normal. NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center predicts between 13-19 named storms, 6-10 of which could become hurricanes with between 3-6 developing into major hurricanes (categories 3-5 with winds 111 mph or higher). This is much higher than the average of 12 named storms with 6 hurricanes including 3 major hurricanes.
