COVID-Modified Annual Meeting a Success
Due to concerns over the spread of Coronavirus, Southern Rivers Energy held its 83rd Annual Meeting of Members in a drive-thru only format on Aug. 29.
“Given the fact that we usually draw a crowd of 450-500 people, we just did not feel comfortable holding the meeting in a traditional format, even in an outdoor setting,” said SRE President/CEO Michael McMillan.
There were no registration gifts, door prizes or breakfast and the co-op even canceled the popular health fair that Upson Regional Medical Center usually provides.
Members had the opportunity to vote early at the office drive-thru window the entire month of August where they were provided with a copy of the 2019 annual report, 2019 annual meeting minutes, the nominating committee’s report and a ballot.
A total of 261 members voted in person and by proxy to approve the minutes and re-elect the following directors to the board for a three-year term: Ralph Nix, Stephen C. Goodman and R. Brian Ogletree.
“We sincerely appreciate our members’ cooperation and flexibility with all the changes we’ve had to make during the pandemic and we look forward to visiting with them in our traditional format complete with sausage dogs next year,” said McMillan.
