SRE Discontinues Surge Protection Program

Starting Jan. 1, 2016, Southern Rivers Energy began phasing out the Tesco Surge Protection program. Each protector has a 10-year warranty (from the manufacture date) so beginning Jan. 1, 2016, we began removing the protectors whose warranties were expiring.

ESFI Warns Public About the Dangers of Electric Shock Drowning

Despite being categorized as leisure activities, swimming and boating can quickly become dangerous. While water-safety behaviors such as wearing life jackets and maintaining safe boating speeds have become commonplace, a serious hazard remains that is often overlooked. This silent killer, classified as electric shock drowning, occurs in fresh water when a typically low level alternating current (AC) passes through the body, which causes muscular paralysis and eventually leads to drowning.

We have gadgets galore, the ability to manage our homes in new and innovative ways, brilliant images and captivating sounds of modern entertainment options and of course, the internet. Clearly, digital devices reign supreme. Yet these cool new capabilities come with a couple of pitfalls; vampire loads and the issue of “technology reincarnation.”

Scammers Targeting Local Businesses

Monday, May 8 - Several local auto businesses have been targeted today by scammers threatening to disconnect their power if they did not submit immediate payment on a past due bill. Please be advised that while Southern Rivers Energy does make courtesy calls to members who are subject to disconnection for non-payment, we call the day before the account is scheduled to be disconnected in order to give our members time to make the payment. 

Operation Round Up Grants Awarded

Congratulations to the our recent Operation Round Up grant recipients. The following is a list of recipients who received grants in March. The Trust Board meets and reviews applications every other month. Donations to the program are not granted for general operating expenses or utility bills.
