10 p.m Update: Severe Storm Causes Lengthy Outages
10 p.m. Update: Crews have reduced outages to 47 - 28 in Lamar and 19 in Monroe, but they are dealing with more broken poles and wire down everywhere. Unfortunately, these repairs take some time to complete so please hang in there and know that these crews want your power back on as much as you do and will work non-stop to make it happen. Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation throughout this lengthy process.
8 p.m. Update: Outage numbers are down to 214 as of 8 p.m. - Lamar 91, Monroe 90 and Upson 33. Our thanks go out to Snapping Shoals EMC for their assistance and to our members for their patience!
6 p.m. Update: Crews have restored power to 426 members over the last two hours. Snapping Shoals EMC crews have arrived and will help restore power to the remaining 274 members in Lamar (101), Monroe (140) and Upson (33) counties.
Last night's severe storms packed quite a punch throughout our service territory but Lamar, Monroe and Upson were the hardest hit where these three counties meet around Redbone, Southwest Monroe and Yatesville. Crews are encountering a high number of trees across lines, green trees that have fallen from outside the right-of-way, and some that still have to be cleared from roadways before crews can even assess the damage and begin repairs. This makes restoration efforts extremely time-consuming so additional help has been secured from Snapping Shoals EMC but work is expected to continue into the evening before everything is restored.
We urge everyone to be prepared and if you or your loved ones use medical equipment that requires electricity, please make other plans as we cannot give you an exact restoration time. Thank you for your patience and support. You can track outages on our Live Outage Viewer and check the website, Facebook or Twitter for updates at 6 p.m., 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. and be sure to report any new outages using our Outage Hotline at 866-244-4890.
